As the brutal international live event tour of WWE continues, Lyon, France has been the source of WWE Backlash France. SmackDown's show last night broke a record set in Philadelphia just a month ago by earning the largest live gate in WWE history.

Backlash promoted three main events: Damian Priest's first WWE World Title defence against Jey Uso, Cody Rhodes vs. AJ Styles for the WWE Championship, and Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill vs. The Kabuki Warriors for the WWE Women's Tag Team Championships.

This week’s WWE Raw viewership garnered 1.683 million viewers.

Kevin Owens, a French Canadian, opened WWE Backlash from France and had a huge response. Next was Randy Orton, whose song was well known to the French audience in both English and French.

Following a ferocious brawl, Kevin Owens gave random security guards Stunners to use in the bout. The crowd erupted as Nick Aldis announced that the rules would now be a Street Fight, and he shouted it in French.

Kevin Owens hilariously landed a frog splash on Tama Tonga. Orton went on, hinting at a Frog Splash of his own, but then he just quietly moved aside from the barrier.

Early on, Tama Tonga was receiving a "welcome to the WWE"-style beating. When Tonga used a kendo stick to further his cause during the match, he got his revenge.
